A fourth grader At Reilly elementary is recycling old cell phones.
Brady Delaney a 9 year old animal lover decided to collect 1,000 cell phones
for the Cincinnati zoo to help save gorillas habitats.
he was working on a school
project for endangered species , then had an idea that he could make donation boxes and set them up around Alexandria to make Sure
people were eligible to donate and easier to drop their phones off .
Recycling your phones reduces mining and ore used in cell
phones for the gorilla habitat. Then it raises money for the zoo conservation
fund according to the Cincinnati zoo website.
By recycling your old phones your preventing the large
number of hazardous wastes entering our environment. Metals such as copper and lead,
they can also linger for a long amount of time and have multiple effects on
people and on the health of people In general .the more people that recycle the
better off we are and the better off the animals are in the long run in the wild.
The family participated in the gorilla run on march 30 of
this year as team Brady. Brady dressed up as a gorilla and ran, to get more
people to donate. Then did the same
thing for Halloween.
