Canines helping soldiers

At fort Bragg in North Carolina a German shepherd named lexy, is successfully getting soldiers home from the war and having them get into counseling.  Staff Sgt. Dennis Swols said at first he wasn't thrilled with the idea because he didn't think it would work. Swols had completed seven tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Then suffered from post -traumatic stress disorder but, it was so bad that he experienced seizures from it. Swols stated, even his kids knew not to scar him.  Swols said “I cried the first time I killed someone he also said "I never went and got help". It takes friendship from the therapy dogs like lexy to have that strong connection and to help the solders get through their experience like Swols. Lexy lies their next to him during all the practices, and when the discussions get difficult lexy pulls closer.”She made a difference in my life" Swols said. There are about 2,500 dogs trained in the armed services at warrior canine connections in Brookeville and Maryland   , lexy and some of the other dogs were finally able to be used for their first time to help some solders heal their minds. At canine connections camp they begin training when the dogs are pups so, they learn how to since a soldiers distress. In Bethesda Maryland a 3 yr old Labrador retriever mix named Ron, is trained to bring tissues to the patient during sessions and just to comfort them. The armed service is so pleased with the work these dogs do so they decided to give them rankings. "It comforts them [the soldiers] to get through the hard stuff” said psychiatrist Maj. Christine Rumayor who works with Lexy at Fort Bragg "so they can keep working through their issues"

Cometicand other hose hold items cruelty

Did you know that many shampoos, cosmetics, and cleaning products ext. Are tested on animals regularly? Tons of personal care products go through different procedures even before the item has is put on the shelf. Animals being tested for pharmaceuticals are even more dangerous. Animals are being intentionally given a disease to see how they react to it (positively or negatively) or whether or not if the drug has serious side effects. The animals being tested can end up having tumors or other such diseases .The scientist examine them before sometimes them intentionally killing them.
On an understanding level ethics seems to dictate that humans want to use harsh chemicals for the use of cosmetics, and other house hold products used on a daily basics. Scientists and pharmaceuticals should be able to conduct human test subjects that undergo the safety tests. What’s the difference to go through the same test the laboratory animals have done, if the humans have already done but, just
After the animals have already gone through it.

Fairness and alternatives
Many years ago the society had an outrage over exposes, about abusing animals being used for experimental use only. Many Companies banned the use of testing animals for their products. Did that just stop selling the products? No. they instead they came up with non- harmful ways to test their products for example, eye irritation a newly  discovered medicine could now be tested on a on a donated human retina.
Many products still test on animals. Some activists are all agonist and other are okay with the three r rules
1.      Replace the use of animals in scientific procedures with non-animal alternatives whenever possible;
2.     Reduce the number of animals used in any animal-testing procedure;
3.     Refine procedures so that animals experience less pain, suffering, or discomfort.
How far should they go?
At this point in time there is nothing dangerous found in shampoos, detergents , and other house hold. When Companies discover something new within  any of those areas , if their might be danger in the product .The manufacture should use scientifically sound  non-animal testing products or just a safer ingredient all together .

Pesticides present another huge question requiring animal testing. When setting a safety limit for humane exposure for as a particular compound or element F.D.A requires extra safety factors above even the level shown to be extremely hazardous for lab animals.

Pesticide manufactures have proposed testing their chemicals on humans  rather than animals to determine a “more precise” levels of safer exposed hoping that human levels would give them better results .  http://www.grinningplanet.com/2004/10-12/cosmetics-animal-testing-article.htm

a very dedicated 9 year old

A fourth grader At Reilly elementary is recycling old cell phones. Brady Delaney a 9 year old animal lover decided to collect 1,000 cell phones for the Cincinnati zoo to help save gorillas habitats.

he was working on a school project for endangered species , then had an idea  that he could make donation boxes and set them up around Alexandria to make Sure people were eligible to donate and easier to drop their phones off .

Recycling your phones reduces mining and ore used in cell phones for the gorilla habitat. Then it raises money for the zoo conservation fund according to the Cincinnati zoo website.

By recycling your old phones your preventing the large number of hazardous wastes entering our environment. Metals such as copper and lead, they can also linger for a long amount of time and have multiple effects on people and on the health of people In general .the more people that recycle the better off we are and the better off the animals are in the long run in the wild.

The family participated in the gorilla run on march 30 of this year as team Brady. Brady dressed up as a gorilla and ran, to get more people to donate. Then did the same thing for Halloween.

9 year old donates to save favorite wild life animal

A fourth grader At Reilly elementary is recycling old cell phones. Brady Delaney a 9 year old animal lover decided to collect 150  cell phones  but has now updated it to 1,000 according to the Cincinnati zoo website then they  help save gorillas habitats.

He was working on a school project for endangered species , then had an idea  that he could make donation boxes and set them up around Alexandria to make Sure people were eligible to donate and easier to drop their phones off .

Ramstetter, a zoo volunteer told Brady that a mineral known as Colton is used in cellphones. The ore is mined in gorilla habitats, which causes destruction. By recycling, the gorillas' habitats could be retained and other harmful substances from the phones will stay out of landfills. The zoo partners with Eco-cell, a company that provides no-landfill recycling. Then it raises money for the zoo conservation fund according to the Cincinnati zoo website.

Circus elephants and the bull hook

The bull hook is a tool that controls the use of training circus elephants. Elephants are scared and terrified of the bull hook. Elephants can’t handle pain; their skin is so sensitive and so brittle. Even though it may look tough it’s ultimately not .Animal trainer’s most of the time use the bull hooks in softer places on the elephants like the, feet, anus, behind the ears, and much more. Sometimes the trainers even disguise the bull hook into a show piece so customers at the show don’t see it. Trainers also do that so the animals know what happens if they mess up.

As a very young elephant the trainers will use bull hooks and the elephants will try to make noises and rebel but, unfortunately that doesn't work as seen on the link below with Ringling bros. circus. As of September 2013, in Los Angela’s UNANIMOUSLY voted that they would be banned on the use of circus elephants. So they could just use it on any other animal? They should have just banned it for the use of all animals’ not just elephants. But, at least the elephants are safe.  The next city that is in a law suit for using bull hooks is New York against Universal circus. The easiest way to not have elephants in circus’ is just to not have bull hooks .http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/why-its-time-to-end-the-use-of-bullhooks-once-and-for-all
